| Thanks for all the comments. It does help to get it out there and here some responses. Speaking of her parents Heath, boy do I feel for them too. On top of all of this, her father's father passed away weekend before last. So at the time the doctors here were telling her she needed to leave school and go home her parents were in the midwest preparing for her grandfather's funeral. Her mother tried to get out to come here to be with her and spent, I kid you not, 4 days in airports. She spent two there trying to get out and then between weather and the easter weekend she was just stuck. Both parents managed to get out of the midwest and over to Detroit on Thursday and then got stuck there until Saturday. I couldn't stop thinking about her trying so hard to get here and how frustrated and freaked out she must be. I don't know if I could handle that at all. I told O to make sure that we pay attention to people looking really distressed in the airport because I find it shocking that under her circumstances that she couldn't get on a flight. I would give her my fucking seat let me tell you. And on top of all that, K's (that's her, my student) dad's sister died from the adult version of this in 2003. She was a young woman too. Older than K but young. She had to small children. She has a webpage of her battle with it and I went to it and it was... I honestly don't know what kind of adjective to use. Sad definitely. But something else too. Like awful life can suck hardcore kind of a sad. I texted K tonight because I hadn't heard from her since she went to NYC. I didn't get a response yet. I'm so worried about her because I feel so certain that if she didn't message me that there isn't any good news. My solace, my cutie gal... Note: I'm pretty sure these are going to bugger the layout but I'm too tired to go change the size and felt like putting some pics up. I'll probably fix it tomorrow. This one is pre-haircut. She's so damn cute in pigtails but hates, hates, HATES having anything done to her hair. I will freely admit here that I bribed the child with m&ms to get her to let me put these in. Well worth it,no?
Here we have her eating her first hardboiled egg. We boiled and dyed a dozen for easter. I'm so sick of eggs I can barely look at this picture.
And lastly, she's been coming to the lab with me and has taken quite an affection to the rats. Especially the babies that are in house right now. Aw! She's actually really great with them. Not scared but gentle. She talks them too. So cute.

p.s. while writing this I got a text back from K. No news yet. She's back from NYC and says it was quite an ordeal. They don't know yet if it worked but could know by tomorrow. Cross everything! Fingers, toes, hair, eyes, legs, kidneys. Whatever. Cross it! She seemed in good spirits. We sent a few messages back and forth. I'm so pulling for this girl. So, so, SO pulling.
